Eighth on the list are newcomers My Luthier. Started by two students from The Royal Academy of Music, they have a showroom in the basement of a cafe in East London where some lovely instruments can be found by makers from around the world. Although lacking a professional workshop and expertise, they have delighted musicians with their enthusiasm as players!

7. The Old Violin Workshop

Situated in beautiful Hampton Hill, South West London, The Old Violin Workshop has been pleasing customers for years. Providing violins, violas & cellos to students and professionals alike, they are a firm part of the community in the Borough of Richmond. As well as selling new instruments, they repair and restore old instruments in their on-site workshop, optimising them for sound and playability.

One of the oldest violin shops in London, JP Guivier lies in the Fitzrovia area of London, close to Oxford Circus. They provide old instruments, accessories and repair services. Guivier remains an inspirational place for customer service and was hugely influential on the Ruschil & Bailly style of service. Although recent years have seen a significant reduction in the number of workshop staff, they remain a destination for London’s Players.
