About The Cello

A beautiful, tonally impressive & confidently made cello by contemporary luthier Ian McWilliams of Crawford Instruments. Made in Montpellier, France, 2008 under the guidance of esteemed luthier Frédéric Chaudière.

Tonally this is a very robust cello, offering the player strength, character and volume also. Fresh and present with depth, the cello has a driving lower register whilst also having a clean and clear A string to be heard when needed.

Crafted with confidence, the cello has a low arched front and back which adds to the driving nature of the sound. It is made in the antique style, with a good balance of reddish brown in the varnish over a golden brown ground. Set up with a Belgian bridge, it is a cello made to be heard.

About The Maker:

This led through Peter Biddulph to working for Frederic Chaudiere in Montpellier, France making modern violin, viola and cello until 2010. He is now focusing his attention on making modern violin, viola, and cello. He is a member of the British Violin Making Association and an award winning member of the Violin Society of America.
