About The King Arthur
About The King Arthur
The King Arthur, 2023 is an original cello handmade by Antoni Ruschil combining classical Italian and English styles and tones. Constructed from the same wood as the very successful “Pearl, 2022”, a fascinating, deeply and variously flamed piece of Bosnian maple, it is balanced with a very low density piece of fine north Italian spruce.
With wider upper and lower bouts and Italian/English arching, The King Arthur has a chocolatey smooth, warm tone with depth, resonance and punch high up when needed. Paired with Thomastik Spirocore C & G strings for driving power and presence, and Thomastik Versum Solo D & A strings for high performance velvety punch, it has a particularly sophisticated and original sound.
Finished with varied depth coats of handmade Ruschil London oil varnish, “Nettare”, the cello has multiple tones ranging from transparent gold to deep red, which shimmer in the light.
Completed with boxwood pegs & tailpiece made in England by Gerald Crowson, triple brilliant endpin made by Mitsuke, Japan in a rare vintage holder from Hart & Sons, London c.1900 and a royal level Belgian bridge from Milo Stamm, The King Arthur is finished with fittings that are unparalleled in terms of quality.
